Carroll County Mugshot Sources
The Carroll County Sheriff's Office Detention Center roster is the official local source for Carroll County jail mugshots. The roster is not a stand-alone photo gallery. It is a custody and recent-release tool that pairs each image with jail booking facts. The official inmate roster landing page separates Current Inmates from the 48 Hour Release list and includes the sheriff's notice that the information is collected from public sources and provided for public convenience.
The current inmate list shows people held at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office Detention Center in Berryville. The 48 Hour Release list shows people released from the Detention Center within the prior 48 hours. Both channels displayed booking-photo thumbnails during the research review, and individual profile pages displayed a larger profile image above the booking details. No official Carroll County daily booking PDF, archive gallery, or separate historical mugshot database was located in the sheriff's public pages.
The public roster should be read as a jail record. It can help identify a person, the local booking number, the arresting agency, the booking date, and listed charges. It is not a certified court record. The roster profile notice says charges and bail amounts may change after court appearances and may not be current. That split is important because a person may leave the current roster soon after release but still appear for a short time in the recent-release channel.
Find Carroll County Booking Photos
A Carroll County booking photo may appear in three official roster places. The first is the Current Inmates list for people still in county custody. The second is the 48 Hour Release list for people recently released. The third is the individual profile page opened from either list. The profile is where the larger image, gender, race, arresting agency, booking date, charges, original court date, release date when posted, and VINE link may appear.
- Open the Current Inmates roster when the person may still be held at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office Detention Center.
- Use the name search if a first or last name is known. If the search fails, use Show All and try the name or date sort controls.
- Open the View Profile link. The larger Carroll County booking photo appears with the booking number, charges, and other profile fields when the image is public.
- Check the 48 Hour Release roster if the person was recently released from the Carroll County Detention Center.
- If the photo is not online, use the sheriff's FOIA process for jail booking records and identify the person, booking date, booking number, and arresting agency if known.

The image confirms that the public photo is tied to a roster entry, not offered as a photo-only search product.
Carroll County Mugshot Record Fields
A Carroll County jail mugshot is only one field in the jail profile. The sample records reviewed on May 28, 2026 showed front-facing booking images on list and profile pages. They also showed basic jail booking data that helps avoid mistaken identity, especially when names are similar. The public county profile did not show every field a jail may keep internally. Date of birth, height, weight, eye color, hair color, housing unit, warrant number, court case number, and prior booking photos were not observed on the public county profiles.

The profile layout shows why the photo should be matched to booking number, date, and arresting agency before any conclusion is drawn from a name alone.
Carroll County Mugshot Public Access
Arkansas public-records law gives the starting point for Carroll County booking records. The Arkansas Attorney General's FOIA handbook reproduces Ark. Code Ann. sections 25-19-103 and 25-19-105, which define public records broadly and state that public records are open during regular business hours unless an exemption applies. The sheriff FAQ applies that public-records framework locally by listing Jail Booking Records among Records Management System records that may be available from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
Public access still has limits. The sheriff FAQ lists exceptions that may affect records, including active or ongoing investigations, sealed or expunged court records, juvenile offender or juvenile suspect records, and certain personnel records. A booking photo that is visible on the roster is public in that roster context. A photo that is not online may require a request, and the custodian may redact or withhold a record if an Arkansas FOIA exemption applies.
Arkansas mugshot law: Arkansas Act 450 of 2021 created Ark. Code Ann. section 4-75-102 for private publish-for-pay use of booking photographs. The law targets websites that demand payment or other consideration to remove a booking photo, requires removal within five business days after a proper written request, and bars a removal fee. It is not a blanket ban on sheriff roster photos.
That distinction matters in Carroll County. The sheriff's roster is an official custody record channel. Act 450 is aimed at commercial removal practices, not the Detention Center's routine publication of current and recent-release booking information.
How Long Carroll County Mugshots Stay Online
Official sources publish two clear windows. Current inmates remain on the Current Inmates roster while they are in current custody, and released persons appear on the 48 Hour Release page for persons released from the Detention Center within the last 48 hours. The research did not locate an official statement saying that older profile URLs or images remain reachable after the release window, that older photos are retained internally for public browsing, or that images are automatically removed after dismissal, acquittal, sealing, or expungement.

Because that list is time-limited, a missing photo does not prove that no booking occurred or that no jail record exists.
What is and is not public: The public can see the roster photo and listed booking fields while they are posted by the sheriff. Internal jail files, protected juvenile records, sealed or expunged matters, active-investigation material, and fields not shown on the public profile may require a formal request or may be withheld.
Request Carroll County Booking Photos
If the roster no longer shows the image, the official fallback is the Carroll County Sheriff's Office FOIA process. The sheriff FAQ says requests for public-disclosure information may be made by email, fax, mail, or in person. For a booking photo, the request should be narrow and should include the person's full name, approximate booking date, arresting agency if known, and booking number if it appeared on the roster. A narrow request helps staff identify the correct jail booking record.

The sheriff FAQ says nominal fees may apply to records. It lists incident report copies and accident report copies at $10 each, but it does not publish a separate fixed fee for a booking-photo copy. If the request is urgent because bond, release, or custody status is at issue, call 870-423-2901 and press 1 for Jail rather than relying only on email.
Carroll County Mugshot Removal
No official Carroll County page was located with a separate roster-photo removal form. The documented local path is the normal records path: verify the court outcome, confirm whether a sealing or expungement order exists, and then work from the official record held by the court or sheriff. Arkansas Act 450 gives a removal process for private publish-for-pay booking-photo sites. It does not by itself erase the underlying sheriff booking record or decide whether a public jail profile must be removed.
When the issue is dismissal, acquittal, sealing, or expungement, the court file matters. Search ARCourts and the local clerk channels show the case record, filings, and disposition when public. A court disposition is the record of what happened in the criminal case.
State and Federal Mugshot Limits
Carroll County jail mugshots are different from state prison photos and federal custody records. The Arkansas DOC inmate search is the statewide channel for sentenced state-prison custody and county-related DOC statuses such as Carroll County Waiting List or Act 309/work entries. DOC sample profiles can include an inmate photo, ADC number, facility, custody class, physical description, sentence history, and release or eligibility fields. That is a prison locator, not the Carroll County jail roster.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator returns federal custody details such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. It is not a public mugshot gallery. ICE's Online Detainee Locator System is also a custody locator, not a booking-photo source. No BOP facility or ICE detention facility was found in Carroll County during the research review, so local booking-photo searches should begin with the sheriff roster before moving to state or federal locators.
